Bringing your child to the ER

After our experience in the ER on Wednesday I have some advice for parents who have to bring their child to the emergency room.

Document the time you arrived, the names of all the drs/nurses/staff that you come in contact with, your wait times, and medicines they give your child.
If you feel like your child is not being cared for properly get in touch with one of the hospital directors or administrators. Always be catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar! I was very frustrated in the ER and wanted to fuss at the dr's and nurses who weren't doing their jobs but I knew that wouldn't get me anywhere. However now I wish I had been a little more assertive!
We were able to convey our discontent with the hospital after the fact. My husbands mother used to work at the ER we brought Tyler to. She was able to get in touch with one of the directors at the hospital to let her know everything that had happened. I feel better knowing that something might be done there so another child might not have the same problems we had but at the same time I wish things had been taken care of while we were there...
